Confessions of Faith

In this section, Mr. Meherally provides us with a very eloquent and humanistic comparison of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The only issue that I have with this section is the comparison of the Qur'an to the Old and New Testaments and the conclusion that the Qur'an is a "revelation" from God. Since the Qur'an contradicts many important teachings of the Bible, they both cannot be from God. Here is a brief outline discussing why the Qur'an is not a revelation from God.

The major issue of eternal importance is the question of salvation. Accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior assures me of salvation - something that I do not deserve and cannot earn. It is through God's grace that I am forgiven. Islam, as well as all other religions, do not give me assurance of salvation. The premise of these faiths is that I can save myself through fasting, praying, pilgrimages, giving alms, meditation, or other activities. While these things are of great spiritual benefit after a person accepts Jesus, they can never wash away our sins and make us presentable to a perfect and sinless God. For a comparison of the Christian and Islamic views of the nature of sin please read this. It is of eternal importance.
